Ramu was a blind old man. One dark night he came out of his cottage and went along the road. He had a pitcher of water under his

right arm and a lantern in his left hand.


A young man was coming from the other end of the road. He came to Ramu and shouted, Ramu you can't see, but you are carrying a lantern in your hand, why?


Ramu smiled and said, “Do not shout, young man. Listen to me.

This light is not for me. It is for you and others. I go out every night with a lantern in my hand. So that people may see me and avoid knocking against me."


The young man was ashamed of his behaviour and went away.
