The teacher will read out the following text to the learners and discuss the questions that follow :
A thirsty old man is sitting beside the road. He says, 'water ! water! water!' Suraj and Ravi are friends. They hear the old man's cry. Suraj ignores it but Ravi stops near the old man. He takes out his water bottle. He gives the bottle to the thirsty man. The man takes the bottle and drinks water. He thanks Ravi.

Sympathy cannot be compared with gold. Explain.
Ans. 

Gold is precious but it is earthly material only whereas sympathy is a heavenly thing. Gold can be purchased. It can be sold. It can be paid back. But heavenly sympathy can neither be sold nor bought. It is far greater than gold. Sympathy pleases the heart and soul which gold can never do.

Have you ever shown sympathy to any one ? If yes, give details.

Ans.

Yes, I have shown sympathy sometimes to some persons. One incident is such—A poor man was begging for alms. He looked very hungry. It was a pity to see his very lean and thin body. I gave him fifty rupees, which I had got as my pocket money that day.

Ans. 

Sympathy is a heavenly thing. It is God's precious gift to human beings. It is the supreme affection for others. Even animals possess sympathy. If we have sympathy in our hearts, we will be loved and cared by the Almighty.

Translate the following stanza into Hindi :

"How shall I pay him back 

For all he did to me?
